Know About Dental Braces

logo

Dental braces, also known as invisalign braces, are appliances used in orthodontics which straighten and align teeth so as to improve dental alignment and also to correct teeth gaps. A misaligned or crooked smile can have a deep negative impact on a person’s self-image and professional career. Braces correct gaps by applying metal brackets to the teeth in order to pull them tightly into place. The brackets are gradually adjusted and readjusted as per the changes in the patient’s facial structure. You may want to check out Get More Information¬†.

The traditional metal dental braces have been replaced with plastic aligners since they are more comfortable and durable than their metal counterparts. The new aligners do not break or chip easily, even during rough usage by dentists. The patient is also able to remove them at any time, which had always been the case with the former dental braces. The plastic dental braces have also proved to be less expensive than the metal braces.

To install the dental braces, the orthodontist first removes the old brackets from both ends of each tooth. Then he or she mounts brackets on each side of each tooth. After mounting the brackets, the wires are placed inside the brackets and tightened down. These wires are connected to the braces’ leads; hence, when the patient smiles the metal bands push up on the brackets which pull the teeth upwards. This pulls the teeth towards the mouth, making the space between the front teeth more prominent.
