Ivy-X Precontact Review

Poison oak can be a real nuisance if you live in an area where it thrives, and particularly worrying if you have kids who love nothing more than to play and expore in the great outdoors. It only takes a quick brush against a poison ivy, oak, or sumac leaf for large areas of the skin to become covered in an itchy, painful red rash, thanks to the unseen but extremely easily transferred toxic oil, urushiol, which is found in these plants.

The best way to avoid the rash is to learn what the plants look like and be able to easily identify them. But it's not always as easy as that, and sometimes you can find yourself breaking out in a poison ivy rash without even knowing that you've been in contact with any. If you do happen to see the plant and realize that you've been exposed, there are ways of preventing the nasty allergic reaction from happening. Many products are available to treat your skin immediately after contact, so that the harmful urushiol will be killed and removed before it has the chance to soak in and do any damage.

Of course, this only works if you notice at the time that you've been exposed to poison ivy or poison oak. Many people are less fortunate, and so the first they know about it is when the rash appears – by which stage it's too late to stop it. That's why some companies have come up with a clever answer to the problem in the form of preventative solutions which act like sunblock does. That is to say, you should apply the solution to your skin before going outdoors, and it acts as a protective barrier, so that if you do accidentally come into contact with poison ivy or poison oak, you won't suffer the effects.

Ivy X Pre-Contact Poison Ivy and Oak Spray is one such product, and a particularly good one. You simply spray it on to your skin, and it forms a protective, invisible film that will be resistant to urushiol. If you come into contact with the toxic plant, the oil will be unable to penetrate your skin, and will instead be absorbed by the spray. It's water and sweat resistant, so it won't come off no matter what you're doing – and to remove it at the end of the day, all you've got to do is wash normally with soap and water.

The big advantage of this product over other similar ones is that you don't have to sit around waiting for it to dry or take effect. You just spray it on, and then go on with your gardening tasks or whatever you happen to be going outside for. Other products tend to advise a waiting period of 15 to 20 minutes, so the lack of this makes Ivy X Pre-Contact Poison Ivy and Oak Spray a good choice. In addition to this, it's very user-friendly in that it is practically unnoticeable once it's on the skin, and leaves no greasy or sticky residue. A clean, safe, effective solution to the annoyance of poison ivy and poison oak.
